In your search for the perfect SUV, your choices should include the new Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V-two amazing, reliable vehicles that can make getting from Point A to Point B a ton of fun. However, there are some big differences between them.

At Fred Beans Toyota of Flemington, we put this comparison of the RAV4 and CR-V together to help drivers near Flemington, Montgomery, and Clinton, NJ, figure out which one is better for their lifestyle.

Toyota RAV4 vs Honda CR-V: MPG

Whether you're going around the corner to get a few items from the store or you're packing up the family for a long trip, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V get amazing fuel economy. In both vehicles, the drivers can get a similar city and combined MPG. Although, the difference the Toyota makes here is in its highway MPG and hybrid MPG.

The RAV4 gets 27 city/35 highway MPG, and the CR-V gets 34 highway MPG.* In the hybrid models, the RAV4 gets an EPA-estimated 41 city/38 highway/40 combined MPG.* The Honda hybrid models, by comparison, don't stack up quite as well in fuel economy, as they get an EPA-estimated 40 city/35 highway/38 combined MPG.

Toyota vs Honda: Engine Performance

Under the hood of every great SUV is a powerful engine to back it up, and that's no different in either the Toyota and the Honda. Both vehicles offer two engines-one gas and one hybrid. That being said, if you want to get the most out of engine performance, you're going to want to take a deeper look at the Toyota RAV4.

The RAV4 features a 2.5L 4-cylinder gas engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque with SPORT, NORMAL, and ECO modes. The hybrid engine in the Toyota is also a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. It gets a combined 219 net horsepower and comes with SPORT, NORMAL, ECO, EV, and TRAIL drive modes.

The Honda has an inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque and doesn't have a selection of drive modes. The hybrid engine is also an inline 4-cylinder that gets a combined 212 net horsepower and only features ECON, Sport, and EV drive modes.

RAV4 vs CR-V: Infotainment

When it comes to infotainment options, the RAV4 is a clear winner. The biggest difference between it and the Honda is that Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard in all trims. These features don't come standard in the base trim of the Honda CR-V, but they are standard in all other trims.

Along with standard smartphone integration, the RAV4 also offers a standard 7-inch infotainment screen, compared to the CR-V's standard 5-inch screen.

Concert-like audio quality can be hard to come by, but not with the RAV4. With an available 11-speaker system by JBL®, not only will your music and podcasts come through clearer than ever, your calls and directions from maps will sound better than ever. The Honda doesn't have quite as powerful a sound system, as it maxes out at only a 9-speaker system.

Toyota RAV4 vs Honda CR-V: Who's the Winner?

A duel between two automotive titans-the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V-ends with a clear winner: the RAV4. Thanks to its MPG outputs, better engine performance, and advanced infotainment options, it far outpaces the Honda CR-V.
