With performance trucks increasing in popularity worldwide, the Japanese automaker plans to throw its hand in this growing segment as well. The new Ranger Raptor is expected to arrive in Australia, South Africa, and East Asia markets next year, and Toyota wants to upgrade its best-selling Hilux pickup to make it a viable competitor.

It is speculated that the upcoming Hilux lineup will feature a new Gazoo Racing brand model based on the Hilux Tonka concept unveiled back in March of 2017.

Currently the Hilux is listed as a “three-tier” vehicle, while the Ranger Raptor will be a four-tier. Toyota plans on developing a version of this popular pickup to conquer both the highways and byways with ease while still offering incredible durability and innovation.
